Sune Van Tonder
Sune is a photographer and writer based in Cape Town. Her focus on the human form is rooted in a self-expression of emotions, questions, critiques. She explores identity as myth –the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves. Through themes of loss, rebirth, detachment, dissolution, her images are an expression of these nuances.
Recently, Sune has expanded her artistic repertoire, seamlessly blending her skills as a photographer and artist. Drawing inspiration from the timeless art of cyanotype sun printing, she has begun to transform her photographs into mesmerising artworks. Through this alchemical process, Sune imbues her prints with a sense of mystery and wonder, capturing fleeting moments in shades of blue that echo the ever-shifting tides of human emotion. Each piece serves as a mirror, reflecting back to us the intricacies of our own inner worlds and inviting us to embark on a journey of self-discovery and understanding.
